Festival overview
Radha Ashtami celebrates the birth of Radha Rani, Krishna's beloved and the embodiment of the highest, selfless love (prema). Falling fifteen days after Janmashtami, it is especially dear to devotees of the Braj tradition, who see Radha as the very heart of devotion to Krishna.
History & origin
Radha was born in Barsana in the Braj region. In the Gaudiya and Pushtimarg traditions she is revered as the personification of bhakti — the love through which Krishna is best approached.
Spiritual significance
Radha represents the soul's longing for the divine. To honour Radha is to cultivate love that asks nothing in return — the purest form of devotion.
Religious significance
Celebrated grandly in Barsana and Vrindavan with abhishek, kirtan and the worship of Radha-Krishna together.

Bhagavad Gita teachings for Radha Ashtami
Radha embodies the bhakti that Krishna names the highest path in the Gita. Her love is the living form of "fix your mind on Me with love" (9.34, 12.6–7) — devotion so complete it dissolves the self.
“Those who worship Me with their whole being, fixing their minds on Me — them I swiftly lift from the ocean of mortal existence.”
“Fix your mind on Me, be devoted to Me; thus united and intent on Me, you shall come to Me.”
Krishna's guidance for this day
Ask Krishna how to love — a person, your work, the divine — without expecting anything back. Radha is the teacher of that love.
